We require a talented, enthusiastic, and organized artist who can cope under pressure to work in our deadline driven environment.

Candidates must be able to work from .dwg/CAD or .pdf files to create photorealistic interior and exterior renderings with little supervision.

The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of 3D Studio Max, Vray, and Photoshop with a minimum of 3 to 4 years of professional experience in a related position.

Must have an eye for detail and aesthetics, must work well with others and possess strong communication skills, and can understand and follow direction and must be able to work independently.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Model, texture, light and render images
Create 3D photorealistic renderings of both exterior and interior environments
Follow client preferences with regards to textures, colours, style, décor, etc.
Produce high quality renderings under tight deadlines
Multi-task and work on various projects at any given time, sometimes simultaneously
Effectively manage rendering times by keeping composites as streamlined as possible
Qualifications:

Degree in Architecture, Fine Arts, Graphic Arts, or equivalent preferred or combination of education and relevant experience
3 to 4 years of related experience
Extensive expertise in 3D Studio Max, Vray and Photoshop.
Excellent detail orientation with demonstrated ability to retain and act on detailed direction
Must be creative and have an eye for aesthetics
Strong organizational and time management skills, particularly in handling various projects and deadlines
Ability to work well within a fast paced, dynamic, deadline oriented environment

About the Position

As a modeller you will create rigs, geometry, UV sets and texture assets to be animated and used in production. You will be working in collaboration with the modelling team to create and deliver high quality 3D models for Nerd Corps’ TV shows, which are beloved by kids and highly regarded by the industry worldwide.

Responsibilities

For all asset types, create geometry that is consistent with the specific production guidelines and design as well as proper modelling fundamentals
For all asset types, create UV sets and textures that are consistent with the design and adhere to production specifications
Rig all asset types using existing production rigs
Create basic rigs for props and sets
Modify existing models to create new assets
Ensure assets are built to achieve the intended animation performance requirements
Ensure assets adhere to the established production guidelines and quality control
Generate and submit approval images of assets that adhere to the established format
Interpret and implement notes and feedback from directors and supervisors in a timely and qualitatively acceptable way
Ensure work orders are kept up to date on a daily basis
Complete all work assigned within the scheduled timeframe and in an efficient manner
Participate in modelling meetings and adjust/refine models as indicated by the modelling supervisor or modelling department head
Anticipate, communicate, and troubleshoot any creative or technical issues with assistance from key stakeholders
Actively participate in production-related meetings by offering thoughts and ideas

About the Position

It’s a very exciting time to join our team! We’re moving our pipeline to Maya so this is a great opportunity to create and develop our next generation of productions! As the lead character pipeline TD you will be responsible for building, improving and maintaining our characters pipeline (workflows, tools, rigs, hair and cloth simulation). You will work closely with the rigging, animation and modelling teams to achieve efficient productions and will support the rigging team with scripts, tools and education.

Responsibilities

Create and develop rigs, tools and process to meet production needs, and assist productions when needed
Prototype biped, quadruped and props rigs
Develop and script automation for the rigging process
Work with production and animation teams to prioritize and plan needs
Develop cloth, hair and fur systems for production
Mentor rigging and other TDs on those systems
Work closely with pipeline, animation and modelling teams to ensure production needs and global pipeline direction
Research new techniques and tools
Create and update documentation explaining our processes and tools
Additional responsibilities as required

Qualifications

4+ years of experience in animation or visual effects for film or television
Proficiency in Maya rigging and deformation is required
Good working knowledge of Python is required.
Proven experience in rigging pipeline development is required
Strong understanding of CG pipeline process is required
Strong problem solving skills
Ability to work in a collaborative environment, offer mentorship, and take direction from department and show leadership
Experience in cloth, hair and fur is an asset.

About the Position

Responsibilities

Develop pipeline tools and processes to meet production needs
Ensure tools and processes meet the global pipeline direction
Work with the pipeline supervisor to design and prioritize production needs
Research new techniques to meet those needs
Design and develop new tools to fit and improve our pipeline
Support production to ensure deadlines are met
Maintain, debug and update existing tools when needed
Test and debug tools and process to ensure stability and usability
Work with software engineers and IT team to debug and test hardware and software
Mentor other TDs
Educate artists on how to work with the pipeline
Create and update documentation explaining our processes and tools

Qualifications

4+ years of experience in animation or visual effects for film or television
Proficiency in one or more of Maya, Nuke, Renderman, or Tractor is required
Strong experience in Python is required
Excellent communication, troubleshooting and debugging skills
Experience working with a render farm is a plus
Experience in designing and building database systems is a plus
Experience in Django, Flask or web development is a plus
Working knowledge of C/C++ a plus

About the Position

We’re moving our pipeline to Maya and we’re looking for a lead shading/lighting TD! About the Position

We are looking for a lead character designer who will be an essential creative member of the design team. This is a fun and creative opportunity to bring a wide range of characters to life in many different universes. Working under the supervision of the art director, you will strive to maintain the show style with your designs and keep them working within the story specifications. You will train, mentor and motivate new designers on the crew and communicate effective and production-friendly solutions when requested.

Responsibilities

Create original, appealing, production-oriented character designs through a procedurally iterative process (including facial expressions, turnarounds, and design details)
Meet with the design supervisor and supervising director to discuss asset requirements
Work in line, greyscale, and colour
Complete work assigned within the scheduled timeframe
Keep designs manageable and in line with the modelling days allotted for each asset
Work directly with modelling to build characters, sets, and props, offering advice and design support throughout the process
Accept feedback on designs and execute on changes quickly
Participate in production-related meetings by offering thoughts and ideas
Stay up to date with shows by reading scripts and watching animatics
Maintain the production’s show style and optimize designs for storytelling needs
Communicate effective and production-friendly solutions when production requests are not possible within production timelines
Assist with paint-overs and provide feedback to design and modelling teams

Responsibilities

Execute key designs and higher level of rendering

About the Position Nerd Corps Entertainment is looking for a senior FX artist to join our team! If you love cartoons, explosions, smoke and fire…imagine combining all of them together! As the senior FX artist, you will create high-calibre, dynamic, and riveting visual effects on our shows while mentoring new FX artists.

Responsibilities

In collaboration with the VFX supervisor, construct creative solutions for recurring visual effects in the production
Create complex effects sequences as assigned by the VFX supervisor/director
Identify to the VFX supervisor problems that could potentially affect timelines and delivery schedules
Respect and adapt to the Nerd Corps system of data storage and retrieval through the use of in-house software
Find a balance between creative needs and technical resources available
Ensure that all production deadlines are met while producing work at a quality level in keeping with production requirements
Create and deliver effects for the series in a timely manner
Participate in VFX meetings and adjust/refine effects as indicated by VFX supervisor or VFX department head
Actively participate in production-related meetings by offering thoughts and ideas
Ensure the VFX team is productive by answering questions that arise

About the Position

We’re moving our pipeline to Maya and we’re looking for a lead shading/lighting TD! It’s a very exciting time to join our team with this amazing opportunity to have a direct impact on the creation and development of our next generation of productions. As the lead shading/lighting TD you will be responsible for developing the look-dev and lighting side of the pipeline. This means developing tools, shaders and workflows for the shading and lighting artists. You will be working closely with lighting and shading artists as well as pipeline TDs to ensure that we’re able to achieve the look and vision of our shows as efficiently as possible.

Responsibilities

Help develop an efficient and creative lighting pipeline for Maya using Renderman
Develop tools, shaders and workflows for shading and lighting artists
Provide technical support and expertise in the areas of rendering and shading
Write surface, light and other shaders to support each show’s look and vision
Assist in debugging and solving render artifacts and excessive render time
Assist and provide tech support for lighting artists to ensure shots can be delivered on time
Create and update any relevant documentation
Mentor and assist other lighting and pipeline TDs

Qualifications

4+ years of experience in animation or visual effects for film or television
Good understanding of modelling, texturing, shading, lighting and rendering workflows
Strong knowledge of C/C++ programming language.
Proficiency in Renderman is a big plus OR other industry renderer, such Arnold
Experience implementing Renderman extensions, such as RSL plugins, procedural and RIF, is a big plus

Be part of the recruiting process by assisting the HR department with the development of job descriptions, sourcing of candidates as well as the candidate selection process

Crew Management

Train design team on an ongoing basis both technically and creatively
Communicate expectations to design team while balancing creative desires with the requirements of production
Oversee the daily activities of the design team
Partner with management to guide artists’ overall professional development by providing performance feedback, mentoring, assisting with resolving performance issues, and maintaining positive morale among the team
Foster and enable communication and collaboration across departments
Set goals for others that can be achieved using available resources and use previous measurable performance to establish goals within projected timeframe
Determine and understand the needs, interests, strengths and weaknesses of the design team and use this information to contribute to the growth and development of the design team
Provide constructive criticism, wisdom, guidance, and feedback that will help others further their career development

ualifications

5+ years in CG animation design
Must have strong design experience for 3D animation and be able to design a wide variety of characters, facial expressions, creatures, machinery, vehicles, and props
Experience interfacing with other designers, modellers, animators and directors
Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills
Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills
Able to effectively give direction and communicate storytelling
Able to identify strengths and weakness of design team
Able to remain flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs of production
Able to set priorities for yourself and others, as well as manage the progress of work
Proactive work ethic, capable problem solver with the ability to implement solutions
Able to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently
Able to think creatively to resolve technical challenges
Able to communicate in a professional and positive manner
Able to adapt to multiple show styles
Must be open to direction and able to embrace change
Design education is an asset, but not required
